President's Message
By Mike Collins

Dear CATI colleagues and visitors:
I'd like to welcome you to the website of the Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters (CATI). CATI is the local chapter of the American Translators Association (www.atanet.org). While our association generally represents the territory of North and South Carolina, our members hail from across the country and Canada as well.

CATI is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors. In addition to me, our 2007 board includes the following individuals: Memuna Williams (VP), Georgia Betcher (Secretary), Janet Austin (Treasurer), Maria Rodriguez (Director), Junko Gilbert (Director), and Manuela Garcia (Director). Contact information for the entire board can be found by clicking on Board Members on the banner above.

As incoming President and outgoing Vice President, I am proud of the work we have done in the last few years and I look forward to continuing to work for the good of our association, its members, and the profession at large.

This website is the public face of our association.
"This website … is designed to serve both members and the public at large. Members will find useful postings relating to professional opportunities and activities. Visitors can search for language professionals among our membership by using the link prominently displayed on the home page."
As such, it is designed to serve both members and the public at large. Members will find useful postings relating to professional opportunities and activities. Visitors can search for language professionals among our membership by using the link prominently displayed on the home page.

If you are a visitor seeking a translator or interpreter or language services company, you can use the online database to make your search. Built-in tools let you refine your search by location or qualification.

If you are a member, you have the additional option of logging in to the members-only section. While there, you can update your biographical information, review selected job postings, and more.

One of the final acts of the outgoing 2006 board was to set in motion the incorporation of several new features to our web site. In 2007, we will see options for on-line payment and membership renewal added to the site, among other changes. These changes are all part of an ongoing effort to streamline and update the way we handle CATI information. The end result will be more efficient and better services to our members.

We are proud to continue our Sponsorship Program.
"We are proud to continue our Sponsorship Program. This program gives people and organizations a chance to show their support for CATI and the translation and interpretation professions."

On the website's home page, you will also find listings of current events and activities, including seminars, workshops, and our 2007 Conference, to be held on the UNC campus in Charlotte. These activities provide wonderful opportunities for members and other interested individuals to network, add to their knowledge, and keep abreast of what's happening in the world of translation, interpretation, and language services.

I hope you find the site useful and helpful. Enjoy your visit!

Mike Collins, President
